Record-high concentrations of sulfur dioxide moved over Australia
According to CAMS/ECMWF, record-high concentrations of sulfur dioxide emitted from the eruption of the Hunga Tonga volcano moved over northern Australia.
Over the same region, satellite data show an increased aerosol load well inside the stratosphere at altitudes even above 30 km. Over there, volcanic aerosols can potentially contribute to cooling the atmosphere.
