Coffee

Contrary to what the majority of the foreigners think, drinking coffee is very commune also in Japan.
However, while Italians like taking some espresso or cappuccino especially in early morning and usually drink their coffee in a few seconds standing at the bar (have a look at this funny Telegraph's guide on the Italian coffee culture)...

... in Japan as well as in many other countries people enjoy sitting at the coffee shop for long time, reading some book, studying, working...

Moreover there are also peculiar places

Gundam cafe at Akihabara, Tokyo

Gundam cafe at Odaiba, Tokyo. The robot is a 18-meter tall statue.

In such a places you can also enjoy some typical local drinks...

However my favourite place is Kaldi where you cannot sit but can enjoy a free cup of coffee looking at the goods :-)

If you are at Tokyo and would like to experience a typical Italian coffee farm I recommend going to

Bondolfi Boncaffe in Shibuya area

where you can enjoy the real Italian espresso with Sicilian cannoli (see above), a tube-shaped fried pastry filled with a sweet ricotta (so gooood!!!).
