Food
I like Japanese food but sometime I feel the need of eating some good Italian food.
Unfortunately, this is not so simple here.
Here is a typical example of what I mean:

A piece of original Grana Padano cheese of 72 grams bought at Tokyu store. Japanese can keep this peace in their fridge for months... I can use it to season one dish of spaghetti ;-)
So if you came to Japan forget cheese... it is VERY expensive and the amount is usually like that.
On the other hand maybe you can try the famous
It is made of Hokkaido's milk and it is very tasteful... actually I don't see any difference with respect our Italian cheese. The only defect is the price: as usually it is very expensive :-(
One of my preferred shops is Kaldi, a coffee farm selling food from all over the world.
They usually give a free cup of coffee to each visitor (!)
There, you can enjoy some "typical" Italian dish e.g.
However, if you are looking for a real Italian pizza in Tokyo or Yokohama, go at
Pizza Salvatore Cuomo

The pizza in Japan is somewhat more expensive than in Italy and it is usually available in two sizes M and L. To Italians, I would strongly recommend taking the L size pizza ;-)

Buying Italian food
There are not so many shops selling Italian food. Obviously you can find something at the supermarkets but the ratio between quantity and price is very low there. Here is a typical example of what I mean:

Restaurants
In Japan there are many Italian restaurants but usually they are very cheap. Moreover, the original recipes are often "revisited" for the Japanese taste. One of them is Saizeriya which is also in front of my house...There, you can enjoy some "typical" Italian dish e.g.

Pizzerie
The pizza (see this about the history of pizza) is very popular in Japan, and recently a Japanese chef has been nominated the world’s best maker of traditional Neapolitan pizza (see here). However, if you are looking for a real Italian pizza in Tokyo or Yokohama, go at
